About Server Hosting Experts

What this site is

Server Hosting Experts is an independent reference for the people who buy and run server infrastructure: IT directors, infrastructure managers and business owners who are choosing a hosting architecture or planning a server migration. Its premise is in the tagline. Choose the architecture, then the supplier. Most expensive hosting mistakes are architecture mistakes made before any supplier was asked a question, and a price comparison cannot fix them.

What you will find

The resources index lists everything with a note on who each item is for.

What this site is not

It is not a hosting provider, a reseller, a broker or a managed service, and it does not operate any infrastructure for you. It quotes no prices, makes no uptime or performance claims, and names no suppliers, so there is nothing here to rank and nothing to place. It does not claim certifications, awards or customer numbers. The planner is a rule-based questionnaire: it has not looked at your systems, and its output is not an audit, a scan, a test or an assessment of your environment.

How the content is written

Each article states who it is for, works through its subject with examples you can check, and says how the approach tends to fail. Where a number appears, it is arithmetic you can repeat, such as how long a transfer takes at a given link speed, or a fact stated by a standards body. Where a fact depends on a vendor, a product version or a contract, the article says so and tells you to verify it against the current source, because licensing terms and support dates change.

Commands shown are intended to be safe to run as written. Anything that changes or deletes data is marked, and the examples prefer read-only checks and dry runs.

Corrections

If you find an error, especially a technical one, please say so through the contact page. Guidance that is wrong is a defect, and it will be corrected rather than defended.
